Elton-Richard "Dean" Young passed away at the age of 69 on December 2, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.  Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at St. Paul Catholic Church.  Rev. Keith Pellerin and Rev. Jose Vatterkunnel will officiate.  Burial will follow in the new St. Paul Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, December 5, 2022 from 4-8 p.m. at Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton.  The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. followed by a Vigil Service.  Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Dean was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He was married to his devoted wife, Glenda Young, for 50 years and he cherished his family dearly.  Dean loved to be outdoors gardening, smoking his "meats" and driving around the countryside looking at the farmlands.  Dean had many professions over his lifetime but, farming always had a special place in his heart.  He loved the smell of fresh-cut rice and the taste of boiled crawfish.  If you knew Dean, you knew he always had something to say! He never had a problem expressing his emotions or thoughts.  His family will cherish his memory and the many, many "stories" he loved to tell.  Dean will be missed, but never forgotten.
Those left to cherish his loving memory include his wife, Glenda Young; son, Troy Young and wife, Jennifer; daughters, Dina Guillory and husband, Mike and Tessa Deshotel and husband, Trent; brother, Lonnie young and wife, Mary; sisters, Billye Faye Fontenot and husband, Coleman and Linda Doise and husband, Phil; 9 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Dean is preceded in death by his daughter, Miranda Young; his granddaughter, Mariah Guillory; and his parents, Willis and Bella Young.

Words of comfort may be sent to Dean's family at www.ardoinfuneralhome.com or on Facebook-Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.  And, in the words of Dean, "Now, hit the blacktop!"
