Kinder-Funeral services for Gregory Allen Schmitz, 61, will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Kinder Bible Church. Rev. Don Barrett will officiate. All arrangements have been entrusted to Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder on Monday, April 11, 2022 from 4-9 p.m. Visitation will resume at Kinder Bible Church on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Greg was born in Wauseon, OH on May 15, 1960. He grew up near Wauseon and graduated from Pettisville High School in 1978. Greg was known as "Beech", to many friends in high school and years after.  "Beech" made a lot of great memories with his friends and family in Ohio. In June of 1983 his son, Nick, was born. They later moved to Clayton, NM in 1984, where Greg worked on his father's feedlot – Schmitz Feedlot. In 1989, he partnered with his father on another farm that Greg managed for 7 years. In 1996 he decided on a change of scenery. Greg then sold his part of the farm and moved to Florida to enjoy the sunny weather. Eventually in the early 2000s, he decided to move back to Ohio to reunite with family and friends.  While in Ohio, he worked in construction and enjoyed socializing with friends. Greg also enjoyed hunting, fishing and anything outdoors which he did a lot of, with his cousin Robin, aka "Smitty". In 2011, after having heart surgery, he decided to move to Louisiana to spend more time with his son, Nick, his daughter in law, Summer and grandchildren Brock, Landon, and Madi. Greg worked for McManus Construction and still enjoyed fishing and the outdoors but mainly he loved spending time with his grandkids and son. He became known to many around Kinder as "Grandpa Greg". Greg was a great person with a genuine soul, a unique sense of humor who loved life and was always himself whether someone liked it or not.  He was a loving friend, son, brother, uncle, father and an awesome Grandpa. We love you and will miss you so much but we know you will be watching over us from Heaven, as we know you are "Headed for Home".

He is survived by his parents, Roger & Carol Schmitz; son, Nick Schmitz; daughter in law, Summer Schmitz;  grandchildren, Brock, Landon & Madison Schmitz; sisters, Tracy (Ed) Keezer & Julie (Scott) Stephens; nieces & nephew, Ciara Keezer, Mackenzie & Cody Stephens; step-niece & nephews, Shawn, Danny, Eddie, and TJ;  as well as numerous beloved cousins.
