The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder from 4-9 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2018 with the Vigil at 6 p.m. and the Holy Rosary prayed at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Wilma passed away peacefully Sunday morning at Kinder Retirement. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Leroy, for 52 years until his passing in March of 2002. Wilma dearly loved and cherished her family. She was a devout Catholic. She raised her family in the strong Catholic faith. She was a lifelong resident of Kinder as well as a lifelong member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. She taught Catechism, was a member of The Catholic Daughters, Lady's Altar Society, and also a member of The Red Hats. She enjoyed music, dancing, cooking for her family, and being around people. She had a very keen sense of humor. Wilma enjoyed playing her weekly card game with her friends. She and her friends were only allowed $3 in nickels and quarters. They always prayed the Rosary before every game and her daughters always teased that they prayed the Rosary so they could win. Wilma also enjoyed serving coffee to her friends every morning at her home. Her family says she cooked the best gumbo, sweet green lima beans, roast and gravy, and homemade pies. Wilma was a wonderful example of faith, love, and hospitality. She would help anyone with anything. Wilma will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Wilma's memory include her three daughters, Marlene Swan and husband, Kirtland, of Lafayette, Myrtis Hudson and late husband, Charles, of Merryville, and Lisa Miller and husband, Pat, of Coushatta; 17 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, Placide and Theresa Leger; one daughter, Linda Cronan; three brothers, Roland, Marion, and J.A. Leger; and two sisters, Roberta LeJeune and Alma Rose Smith.
