Wilma was a loving wife, mother, and granny. She loved her family more than life itself. Wilma was a loving a devoted wife to her husband Beathel “Bilbo” Leo Sweat for seventy-three years until his passing in January of 2019. She was a hard worker and retired from Pitkin High School where the children also affectionately called her “Granny” and she loved all her babies dearly. Wilma was a woman of strong faith and loved the Lord with all her heart, she loved attending church, she taught Sunday school and was the youth leader at her church for many years. She was a very selfless person and was a caregiver to many of her family and friends. She loved to travel with her husband and spending time with him in their motorhome and collecting rocks from all their travels. She was a very kind and caring person and will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish Wilma’s memory include her son, Rodney Leo Sweat and wife Pam, two daughters, Bethel Hermes and Ileen Buller and husband Randy; twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, William, and Evie McCallon DeVore; husband, Beathel Leo Sweat, one son, Joseph Henry Sweat; two sisters, Marie Doyle, and Billie Jo Alton; two great grandchildren, Clayton Glen Sweat, and Hope Lenae Johnson; and one son-in-law, Thomas Hermes.
