Wilma was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved to spend time with her family. She enjoyed cooking and always cooked for her family for special occasions such as birthdays, holidays and family get togethers. She was an excellent baker and loved baking cupcakes for any occasion. Wilma loved to spend time with her sisters, Shirley and Effie and enjoyed sitting on the porch, visiting, drinking coffee, and reminiscing about old times. She was a very selfless person just like her mother Savannah and would do without for herself if it meant being able to give to her children and grandchildren. She always made sure that her children and grandchildren were brought to church. Her favorite saying was "to make a long story short….",however, her stories were always long. Wilma will be unconditionally loved and forever missed by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish Wilma's memory include three sons, Jaron Thompson, Jack (Tessa) Deraway, and William "Billy" Deraway, one daughter, Scarlette Deraway; one brother, Glen (Melissa) Thompson, two sisters, Effie Johnson, and Shirley Thompson; five grandchildren, Brookelynn Glendinning, Jaxton Sparks, Asher Deraway, Jacetyn Deraway, and Jaislee Deraway; and a host of numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, Ed Lee Thompson, and Savannah Willis Thompson; one brother, Fred Lee Thompson, one sister, Judy Willis; and a very special niece Lana Willis.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Joseph West, Aaron Thompson, Jaron Thompson, Griffin Terry, Logan Laird, Kirkland Gill, Garrett and Gavin Johnson, and Spencer Ortego.
