Kinder- Walter Harst, 76, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.
Walter was a life-long resident of Kinder. As a young man, he served in the United States Marine Corps. After serving his country, he started a career at Lockmoore Ranch as a ranch hand. Later he ran the family owned service station, as well as worked for the United States Postal Service for thirty-five years. He retired in 2005.
He had a great love for his family and enjoyed working on his farm where he raised cattle, rode cutting horses, and shared this passion with all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Shirley M. Harst of Kinder; his four children, Carolyn Marcantel & husband Jerry, Marilyn Puckett and husband Donald all of Lake Charles, Debbie Harst of Austin, Texas and Raymond Harst & wife Lesley of Lafayette. He had nine grandchildren & five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in Ardoin Funeral Home chapel of Kinder. Rev. Terry Bushnell will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Green Oak Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday from 3pm-10pm and will continue Saturday at 8am until time of service.
