Elton-Funeral service for Walter Lloyd Aylsworth, age 97, will be held at 11am on Friday, December 9, 2011 at Elton Methodist Church. Rev. Steven Bellard and Rev. Marshall Boulet will co-officiate. Burial will follow in China Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 3-9pm in Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton. A prayer service will be held at 7pm on Thursday evening. The funeral home will re-open on Friday morning from 8am until time of service.
Walter was born and raised in Elton having graduated from Elton High School in 1932. He was a rice and cattle farmer for many years. He had a deep love for animals and always had a shetland pony for his grandchildren to ride. He enjoyed his family and was happiest when he was surrounded by all of them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Walter is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Marie LaFleur Aylsworth of Elton; three daughters, Judy Mitchell and husband, Larry of Melville, Barbara Aylsworth and Lorraine Young and husband, Otis, all of Elton; one daughter-in-law, Donna Aylsworth of Elton; 14 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Lydia and George W. Aylsworth; one son, William Lloyd Aylsworth; one infant son, Walter Russell Aylsworth; two sisters, Lucy Aylsworth and Clara Belle A. Pilgrim; and two brothers, Roy Aylsworth and George N. Aylsworth.
