Kinder-Funeral service for Wallace Savant, 91, will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 11am at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church of Kinder. Father Carlos Garcia will officiate the service and burial will follow in Indian Village Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, May 30, 2013 from 2-9pm in Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder with a Vigil Service followed by a rosary at 6:30pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, May 31, 2013 from 8am until time of service.
Wallace was a lifelong member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and served as a Grand Knight. He was a devoted husband of 56 years and was a graduate of Kinder High School. In 1949 he established Savant Builders Supply where his company served the community for more than 50 years and he worked very hard to provide for his family. He enjoyed gardening, baling hay, and was well known for his Satsuma trees. He also enjoyed the outdoors, cooking, and barbecuing for his friends and family. He was a loving dad, grandfather, and a friend to all, and to his great grandchildren he was known as "GREAT".
Survivors include his son, Bruce Savant and wife Karen of Kinder; Phyllis LaFleur and husband Richard of Lake Charles, Sue Strahan and husband Kevin of Ragley, Donna Attales and husband Joey of Kinder; one brother, Bill Savant and wife Lillie of Kinder; one sister, Dot White and husband Lee of Kinder; ten grandchildren, Sean, Laura, Erin, Brittany, Matt, Jessica, Justin, Brennan, Jennifer, Samantha; eight great grandchildren, Ashley, Matthew, Brady, Braxton, Blake, Cullen, Ellie, and Lyzah.
Wallace is preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Miller Savant; two grandsons, Richard Allan LaFleur and Jason Ryan Abate.
