Elton-A Mass of Christian Burial for Wallace Johness, 86, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rev. Jose Vattakunnel will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Matilda Cemetery in Eunice under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Elton on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 4-9 p.m. with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Wallace was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, uncle and a friend to all. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Hildred, for forty years until her passing in 1996. He attended church at St. Joseph Catholic Church until he wasn't able to attend anymore. Wallace enjoyed working on lawnmowers and tractors. He worked hard as a diesel mechanic and a farmer to support his family. He was always sharp and never forgot anything. Wallace loved to spend time with his family. Full of fun and laughter just barely begins to describe Wallace.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish Wallace's memory include his two sisters, Shirley Hutchinson and husband, Johnny, of Lafayette and Eldee Allison of Eunice; two grandchildren, Donovon Wilson and wife, Sonya, of Elton and Chenita Kirklin and husband, James, Sr., of Oberlin; ten great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Wallace is preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Olivia Johness; wife, Hildred Johness; one son, Walter Johness; one daughter, Clara Wilson; one brother, Walter Johness; and one sister, Isabella Ceazar.
