Oberlin- Funeral service for Virginia Louise Moore Bowles, 82, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home.  Rev. Dr. Alan W. McBride and Rev. Dan Husak will officiate.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery of Jennings under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin on Sunday, June 17, 2018 from 4-9 p.m.  Visitation will resume at the funeral home of Monday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.  She was a resident of Oberlin and member of Oberlin Methodist Church where she served as secretary/treasurer for several years.  Over the years, she was a homemaker and she loved the farm life.  She was a member of the Oberlin Homemaker Club in her younger years.  Her favorite times were those spent with family.  She loved to cook and enjoyed reading.  Virginia will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons, Jimmy Bowles, and wife, Melissa, of Longville, and Jeffery Bowles and fiancée, Carolyn, of Ragley; two sisters, Miriam Kahl and husband, Charles, of Jennings, and June Festavan and husband, Carson, of New Braunfels, TX; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and special friends.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Effie Moore, Sr.; her former husband, James "Buck" Bowles; infant sons, Lynn and Glen Bowles; and one brother, Milton Moore, Jr.

Virginia's family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the nursing homes and hospitals, as well as friends, who helped care for her over the last years of her life.
