Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all. She was a woman of strong faith and was very proud of her Pentecostal heritage. She was faithful to the Lord until her very last breath on this Earth. Virginia was a devoted wife to her husband, Bobby, for 52 years until his passing in June 2007.  She sold Avon for 45 years and was known as "The Avon Lady". Virginia and her husband owned Bob's Grocery in Kinder for 30 plus years. She enjoyed cooking for her family and made the best red beans, rice and cornbread. Her son-in-law said she was the BEST mother-in-law in the world! She was a great example of a Godly woman and everything she believed God expected of a Christian woman. She could find the good in any situation and always make the best of it. Virginia enjoyed spending time with her family and worked hard to provide for them. She made sure to instill faith, love and the love for Christ into her children. She always had a smile on her face and the best sense of humor.  She loved to whistle. Virginia was a friend to all and will be unconditionally loved and forever missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Virginia's memory include her son, Robert Dale Cottongin, of Kinder; two daughters, Debra Lynn Cottongin Gillen and husband, James, of Westlake and Vicky Marie Jarreau, of Baton Rouge; eight grandchildren, Aaron Gillen, of Alexandria, Jason Gillen and wife, Elizabeth, of Denham Springs, Andrea Gibson and husband, Michael, of Mooreville, MS, Erica Cottongin, of Saltillo, MS, Avery, Ainsley, Eason and Emory Jarreau; and three great grandchildren, Lorelei and Jensen Gillen and Waverly Gibson.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Edith Hinshaw; husband, Bobby Cottongin; and five brothers, Bill, Marvin, Melvin, Harold, and Howard Leonard Hinshaw.
