Oberlin-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Virginia Diane Bass, 72, at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Rev. Jacob S. Conner will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Oak Cemetery under the direction of Allen Parish Funeral Home-Oberlin Chapel.
The family will receive visitors at Allen Parish Funeral Home, 119 S. 7th Street, Oberlin from 12-9 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2016. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Virginia was a loving mother and grandmother. She worked hard to provide over the years for her family. She loved sewing, quilting, crossword puzzles, and her time spent with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed dancing and listening to French and swamp pop music. Virginia will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish Virginia's memory include her son, Shane Bass of Oberlin; two daughters, Remanda Bass of Oberlin and Terrell Courville and husband, Michael, of Moss Bluff; one sister, Jerry Bushnell and husband, Rodney, of Oberlin; and four grandchildren-Wesley and Casen Courville and Madison and Bret Bass.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Ola and Remis Marcantel; her husband, Widney "Blanc" Bass; two sisters, Jane Nunez and Margie Higginbotham; and four brothers, Presley Guillory, Darrell, Clifford, and Bufford Marcantel.
