Oakdale- Vesteal Richey Sanderson, 89, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2020 peacefully in her home with her loving family by her side. Funeral Service will be held at 11a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2020 at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale.  Mrs. Sanderson will be laid to rest at New Hope Cemetery in Calcasieu with Rev. Alton Hodnett officiating.  All arrangements have been entrusted to Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, May 14, 2020 from 6-9 p.m. at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home, 311 Highway 1152, Oakdale.  Visitation will resume on Friday, May 15, 2020 from 9 a.m. until time of service. *Please, note that the gathering capacity will be limited due to compliance with state requirements.*

Affectionately known as "Ma" to the community, Mrs. Sanderson was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Vesteal was a devoted wife to her husband, David Cecil Sanderson, for over 60 years until his passing in October of 2010. She assisted in the establishment of a local credit union for the Allen Parish School Board employees, now known as La Capital Credit Union, from which she was employed for over 37 years until her well-deserved retirement.  Vesteal spent the majority of her time studying her Bible and cooking.  She cherished her family and loved spending time with them; always wanting them by her side. Vesteal will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Vesteal's memory include her two sons, Bruce Sanderson and wife, Sandra and David Sanderson, both of Oakdale; two sisters, Joyce (Toy Doll) Richey Howe and Sandy Richey Theils; four grandchildren, Scarlet Jarnagan and husband, Scotty, Sarah Sanderson, Todd Ardoin and wife, Raquel, and Heath Ardoin and wife, Jessica; eight great-grandchildren, Madeline Jarnagan, Allie J. Jarnagan, Mallie Garrison, Carra-Lynn Ardoin, Garrison Ardoin,  Ansley Ardoin, Linden Ardoin, and Lochlyn Ardoin.

Vesteal is preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Lillie Richey; her husband, David C. Sanderson; one sister, Bobbie R. Peirce; three grandchildren, Joseph Bruce Sanderson, Bruce Farley Sanderson and Chad Ardoin; and one very special aunt, Minerva (Auntie) Shows.

The family would like to express their very special thanks to Eddie Brunson who was always there for "Ma".

Pallbearers honored to serve will be Mike Stainback, Lane Howe, Scotty Jarnagan, Heath Ardoin, Todd Ardoin and Garrison Ardoin.
