Kinder-Funeral Service for Verna Mae Bertrand, 87, will be held Monday,
November 1, 2010 at 10:00AM in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church of Kinder. Father
Carlos Garcia will officiate. Burial will follow in Carter Memorial Cemetery of Kinder under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 31, 2010 in Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder from 11AM-9PM with a rosary being recited at 6PM. Visitation will continue on Monday, November 1, 2010 from 8AM until time of service.
Verna was a longtime resident of Kinder and was currently residing in Oaklane Retirement Center of Eunice. She was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking and gardening and loved to talk and visit with her friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by two sons, Webster Young and wife, Glenda of Eunice and Bobby Young and wife, Annette of Kinder; a daughter, Barbara Young Cobb of Eunice; one sister, Mary Manuel of Sulphur; eleven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Verna is preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Young, her parents, John and Enida Isreal, a daughter, Mae Thigpen, and one grandchild, Dustin Young.
