Vera B.
Weldon
June 12, 1932 – May 23, 2022
Oakdale-Graveside services for Vera B. Weldon, 89, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Resthaven Cemetery. Rev. Greg Willis and Rev. Tim Kelley will officiate. All arrangements have been entrusted to Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
Vera, affectionately known as Gammie, was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was married to her husband, Johnny Weldon, for forty-one years until his passing in 1995. They were blessed with one daughter, Robin, as well as one granddaughter and two great grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with her family. Vera was a faithful member of The Pentecostal Church of Oakdale where she received the Holy Ghost in October 1945 when Rev. Robert LaFleur was the pastor and Rev. Robert McKeithen was holding revival. She loved to cook and was always willing to cook for any function at church. One of Vera's favorite memories was when she spent time with her care group ladies ministry. Vera will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish Vera's memory include her daughter, Robin Richardson and husband, Ricky; two grandchildren, Caitlin Tracy and husband, Jacob and Dewayne Richardson and wife, Monette; and four great grandchildren, Nicholas Tracy, Everly Rose Tracy, Caroline Richardson and Samuel Richardson.
Vera is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Isabelle Brooks; husband, John H. Weldon; brother, Eugene Brooks; and sister, Irene Williams.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Allen Oaks Nursing Home and Brighton Bridge Hospice for all of their love, care and compassion shown.
