Kinder-Funeral Service for Velma Jean Nix, 74, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder. Rev. Harry Sommers will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Oak Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Velma was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed taking care of her birds and gardening. She attended First Pentecostal Church of Lake Charles. Velma loved to cook. She could make the best biscuits and banana pudding. She dearly adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Velma will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Velma's memory include her one son, Daniel Anderson of Baton Rouge; four daughters, Sherry Anderson of Moss Bluff, Lisa Jones and husband, "TJ", of Moss Bluff, Pam Pitre of Baton Rouge, Peggy Norwood of Reeves; fifteen grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

Velma is preceded in death by her parents, Challie and Emmea Hodge; two daughters, Renee Coker and Roberta Dugas; five brothers, Robert, Hubert, Eugene, Buddy, and Jack; and four sisters, Rilla, Inez, Cleo, and Joyce.
