Oberlin-Celebration of life services honoring Vallin "Zoop" January, 88, will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11 o'clock a.m. at True Faith Pentecostal Church in Oberlin. Pastor David Wolfe will officiate. Vallin will be laid to rest at St. John's Cemetery in Kinder immediately following his services.
Vallin's family will receive visitors at True Faith Pentecostal Church in Oberlin on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 9 o'clock a.m. until time of service. All arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes
Vallin, affectionately known as "Zoop", was born in 1935 to the union of Willie January and Raine Mayne in Cameron, LA. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a faithful and devoted husband to his wife Loriena for 35 plus years. Vallin was a faithful member of True Faith Pentecostal Church in Oberlin where he enjoyed attending church regularly. He loved his community and enjoyed visiting and attending functions. Vallin worked very hard over the years for Trosclair Canning Company to provide for his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family and being outdoors. Vallin loved to do yard work and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved to have a good time and cherished every memory that he spent with his family. Vallin will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish Vallin's memory include his wife, Loriena January; two sons, Clinton Jackson of Lake Charles and Frank Jackson of Houston,TX; three daughters, Elizabeth Williams of Shalotte, NC, Toni Davis and Husband Joe of Orange, TX, Valincer Jackson of Lake Charles; one brother Jimmy January of Lake Charles, two sisters, Mary Jane Trotter of Lake Charles and Annie Johnson of Shalotte, NC, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Vallin is preceded in death by his parents Willie January and Raine Moore Mayne; three daughters Mose Ella Jackson, Wanda Jackson and Toni"Peanut" January; three brothers, Arthur "A.J.", Martin and Leonard January; and two sisters, Joyce Grissett and Dorothy "Dot" Majors.
