Oberlin-Funeral service for Theresa Sharlene Rider, 69, will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014, at 10 A.M. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Rev. Jacob S. Conner will officiate. Burial will follow in Oaklin Springs Cemetery under the direction of Allen Parish Funeral Home-Oberlin Chapel.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, June 14, 2014 from 11 A.M. until 9 P.M. at Allen Parish Funeral Home, 119 South 7th Street, Oberlin. A Rosary will be prayed by the Ladies Altar Society at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will continue Monday morning from 8 A.M. until time of service.
Theresa was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a member of the St. Joan of Arc Ladies Altar Society. She enjoyed visiting with friends, drinking coffee, and listening to Cajun music. Her favorite holiday was Mardi Gras at which time she loved making Mardi Gras meals for everyone. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, John Kevin Rider and wife, Susan, and Joey Anthony Rider and wife, Debra, all of Oberlin; one brother, Gregory Bertrand of Mamou; one sister, Millie Launey of Oberlin; four grandchildren-Misty, Cody, Courtney and Shelly; and five great grandchildren-Aliyah, Ashton, Mikeala, Alexia, and Mylee.
Theresa is preceded in death by her husband, John "Black" Rider, and her parents, Elwood and Ella Mae Bertrand.
