Kinder-Sylvia Faye Sonnier passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016 from complications related to an unforeseen medical condition. Gentle, soft-spoken, and kind-hearted, she dedicated her life to serving others. Faye's fierce loyalty and compassion defined the exceptional life she lived and shared with others.

She was born in Kinder, Louisiana, on July 10, 1949, to John Stagg Fontenot, Jr. and Mary Delores Fontenot. Faye graduated from Kinder High School and attended SOWELA Technical Institute in Lake Charles. Faye's faith defined her journey on this earth, and her steadfast commitment to her family, her church and her community never wavered. A member of the Kinder Bible Church, she lived for her Wednesday Bible studies. She loved the Lord, and compassionately shared with others in need.

Faye is survived by her husband, Atkins Paul Sonnier of Kinder; her sister, Jenny Dufrene (Benny) of Des Allemands; her daughter, Stacey Sandlin Moore and son-in-law, Tom Moore, Jr., her grandchildren Thomas Moore III, Mary Sandlin Moore and Banks Moore, all of Baton Rouge. She also leaves behind a niece, Jenna Norwood of Houston, TX; and two nephews, Chad Norwood (Jodie) of Sulphur and Bodie Dufrene of Des Allemands.

Faye is preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Christine Norwood.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder on Sunday, March 6, 2016 from 5-9 pm. Visitation will continue on Monday morning at Kinder Bible Church from 12 noon until time of service. Funeral service will begin at 2 pm at Kinder Bible Church.
