Glenmora-Funeral services for Sylvia Dunn Johnson, 95, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021 at Church of Christ in Glenmora. Rev. Darrin Johnson, Rev. Justin Simmons and Dr. Joe B. Nesom will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Church of Christ in Glenmora on Monday, June 21, 2021 from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Sylvia was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Luther E. "Doc" Johnson, for fifty-one years until his passing. She taught at Glenmora Elementary School and was also a Sunday school teacher at Church of Christ in Glenmora for many years. Sylvia volunteered at Sandy Creek Fire Department and Pink Lady at Oakdale Hospital and enjoyed doing so. She loved to travel in her later years with friends, as well as make candy and pies for them and loved ones. Sylvia enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Miss America and Days of Our Lives. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Sylvia's memory include her son, Donald E. Johnson and wife, Cheryl; daughter, Katherine Erwin and husband, Michael; five grandchildren, Rebecca Bankston (Stuart), Donna Flurry (Dennis), Michael Erwin (Danna Jo), Darren Johnson (Laura), Ryan Johnson (Christy); ten great grandchildren, Myia Bozeman (Derrick), Tyler Bankston (Lien), McKenzie Salinas (Sean), Gauge Bankston, Katherine Bankston, Claire Cotten, Violet Johnson, Lilly Johnson, Katlin Johnson and Abigal Johnson; and one great granddaughter, Alizabeth Kate Bozeman.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Martha Dunn; husband, Luther E. "Doc" Johnson; daughter, Rebecca Elizabeth; and three brothers, James Otis Dunn, Rev. Harold Dunn and Clyde Lee Dunn.

The family would like to say a special thanks to S&S Sitter service, Dianna Wilbur, Glenmora Church of Christ and Jackson First Baptist Church.

Pallbearers honored to serve are- Michael Erwin, Stuart Bankston, Dennis Flurry, Derrick Bezeman, Ryan Johnson and Clark O'Bannion.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gauge Bankston, Tyler Bankston, Robert Dunn and James Lee Dunn.
