Elton-Celebration of Life services honoring Sylvia Kay John, 61, will be held at 10 o'clock a.m. on Wednesday morning, November 27, 2024, at Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton. Sylvia will be laid to rest at St. Peter's Cemetery in Elton immediately following her services.

Sylvia's family will receive friends and visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton on Tuesday evening, November 26, 2024, from 6 to 10 o'clock p.m. with a singing service beginning at 7 o'clock p.m. Sylvia's visitation will resume at Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton on Wednesday morning, November 27, 2024, from 8 o'clock a.m. until time of service. All of Sylvia's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton.

Sylvia was a loving mother, Apo, sister, aunt, and friend. Sylvia loved and adored her family and loved to spend time with them, especially her grandchildren. She loved to be outdoors, planting plants, cooking and playing pool. She loved children and always had a house full of kids. She was everyone's second mother. She was affectionately referred to as Mama Kay by her friends. Sylvia was kind and caring and would help others in need. She will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish Sylvia's memory include her daughter, Tai Benoit of Elton, LA; one son, Andrew Young and wife Kristen of Douglass, TX; one sister, Tanya John of Elton, LA, three brothers, Nathan Sylestine of Elton, LA, Burley Sylestine of Iota, LA, and Calvin Sylestine of Elton, LA; six grandchildren, Jayden Benoit, Daylen Benoit, Kasen Young, Taiven Ceaser, Kandon Ceaser, and Anden Young, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Pauline John; her companion, Lionel LeJeune Jr.; two sisters, Theresa John and Clarice Chevallier, and four brothers, Arnold and Phillip John, and Mark and Donnie Sylestine.
