Oberlin-Funeral services for Sonja Rae Billodeaux 78 of Oberlin, will be held at 12 noon, on Friday, November 30, 2018 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Oberlin.  Rev. Jacob Connor will officiate.  Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery in Elton under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin.

The family will receive visitors Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 4-9 p.m. at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin.  The Holy Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m.   Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Friday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Sonja was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.  She was a devoted wife to her husband, Alvin, for 51 years. She was a faithful member of St Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Oberlin. She was a past member of the Ladies Altar Society and the Rosary Club. She was an Associate Member of the Vietnam Veterans of America. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed bird watching and cooking.   Her family says she made the best roast and mashed potatoes and gravy.   She worked for the United States Postal Service for 22 years and served as Postmaster of Oberlin for 15 years. She enjoyed helping others and working with children.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Sonja's memory include her loving husband, Alvin Billodeaux, of Oberlin; two sons, James Gillen and wife, Debra of Westlake and Michael Gillen and wife, Sheila of Erath;  one sister, Dixie Carlson of St. Louis, MO; four grandchildren-Aaron and Jason Gillen, Lindsay Williams, and Joshua Gillen; and six great grandchildren.

Sonja is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Virginia Ohlson; and, her three sisters-Beverly Ohlson, Johleen Ohlson, and Phyllis Fitchner.
