Oberlin-It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the Darbonne family announce the death of their beloved brother Simon (Boy) Darbonne. He died at his residence on May 16, 2013. Funeral service for Boy, age 76, will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 1pm in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church of Oberlin. Father Felix Anyikwa will officiate. Burial will follow in the family cemetery in Swords under the direction of Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin.
The family will receive visitors at Allen Parish Funeral Home-Oberlin Chapel beginning Friday, May 17, 2013 from 1-9pm with a rosary at 6:30pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 8am until time of service.
Boy was born in Eunice, Louisiana. He was a rice farmer.
Survivors include his six sisters, Mary Courville (Willis) of Elton, Zora LaFleur (Clarence) of Houma, Mildred Edwards (Kenneth) of Alexandria, Odile Fulmer (Clyde) of Kinder, Linda Lyons (Kenneth) of Church Point, and Eldine LaFleur of Shriever. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Mr. & Mrs. Jim Darbonne, one brother Calvin, and one sister Elda Courville.
