Kinder-Homegoing services for Shirley Lauralene Young, 79, will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 3 o'clock p.m. at Longville Pentecostal Church Rev. Mike Smith and Rev. Michael Procella will officiate. Shirley will be peacefully laid to rest at Magnolia Cemetery in Longville immediately following her services.  All arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder.
Shirley's family will receive visitors at Longville Pentecostal Church on Thursday morning, August 3, 2023, from 10 o'clock a.m. until time of services.
Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a faithful and devoted wife to her husband Roy for 61 years. Shirley was a woman of strong faith and a devoted servant to the kingdom of God. She was a proud Christian and dearly cherished her relationship with Jesus Christ. She was a very proud mother and grandmother who absolutely adored her family especially her grandson. She was a wonderful cook and always enjoyed cooking for her family. Shirley loved her family with all her heart and always made sure to encourage them with lots of love and compassion. She will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish Shirley's memory include her husband, Roy Young Jr. of Kinder, one son Damon Young of Kinder, one brother, Ellory Burgess and wife Gerttie of Longville, one grandson, Hunter young of Kinder, one special loving niece and caregiver, Lisa Hoffpauir and husband Karl of DeRidder and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, John and Maggie Burgess, two sisters, Mildred Romero, and Loudale Mitchell, and four brothers, Clifford Burgess, Raymond Burgess, Johnny Burgess, and Matthew Burgess.
