Elton- Funeral service for Mrs. Shirley "Jean" Manuel,73, will be held Friday, January 16, 2009 at 2 PM in St. Paul Catholic Church of Elton. Father Marshall Boulet will officiate. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton.

Visitation will begin on Thursday from 1 to 10 PM with a Rosary at 7 PM, and will continue on Friday from 8 AM till time of service.

Mrs. Manuel was a resident of Elton. She died on Tuesday in Church Point. Jean was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed helping her daughters with their day care centers and spending time with her grandchildren. She never met a stranger. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Rodney Manuel of Elton; four daughters, Karen Ortego and husband Raymond of Elton, Katrina Sonnier and husband Burel of Kinder, Kim Guidry and husband Tommy of Elton, and Kandria Frey and husband Darrel of Eunice; one son Brannon Manuel and wife Julie of Elton; one nephew, Glenn "Mickey" Gobert of Bridge City, TX; and 6 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Edna Smith; three brothers, Bob Smith, John Smith, and Phares Fleig; and six sisters, Erma Gobert, Anna Grove, Ethel Ozeskey, Sis Smith, Betty Smith, and Pearl Timm.
