Elton-Shirley Jean LeJeune Durio, 86, of Elton peacefully passed on January 11, 2023, in Kinder. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Elton. Deacon Mike Guillory will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Paul Mausoleum under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home on Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 9 a.m. until time of service with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 12 p.m.
Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who loved red lipstick, crosswords, reading and affectionately teasing her loved ones. She was a lifelong resident of Elton and a faithful member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Shirley married Howard Durio in 1954 and together they raised their children, farmed and supported Elton High School athletics and agriculture programs. She was known for her fig and pecan pies and her love for the color red. Shirley will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish Shirley's memory include her son, Richard Durio and wife, Janice; daughter, Pam Jones; daughter-in-law, Kathy Durio; seven grandchildren, Lyndon Cole, Brad Durio, Kaylyn Fontenot, Kellen Durio, Alison LeBleu, Phillip Durio and Haley Maglalang; eight great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Philomene LeJeune; husbands, Howard J. Durio and Curtis J. Fontenot; son, Russell J. Durio; son-in-law, Bill Jones; two brothers, Daniel Gene LeJeune and Alvin LeJeune; and one sister, Ana Mae LeJeune.
