Elton-It is with saddened hearts that the family of Mr. Shirley Lafosse, 83, announce his passing on January 19, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones at home.  His funeral service will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St Paul Catholic Church of Elton.  Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

Mr. Shirley was a lifelong resident of Elton.  He was a loving father, husband, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle.  He loved spending time with his family and was active in his community.  He donated the land for the Elton Fire Station, was part of a group of citizens that helped build Elton's first football field, and was a friend to all that needed help.  He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and found comfort in his rosary.  He served our country in the National Guard and in 1964 he started his business, Elton Auto and Farm Supply.  He loved flea markets and collecting numerous things, enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and was an avid blood donor having given 88 units throughout his life.  Shirley will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him in his family and community.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Rose Lafosse; the mother of his children, Pearl Lafleur; one daughter, Gwen Deshotel and husband, Greg; one son, Glen Lafosse and wife, Melissa, all of Elton; one stepson, Shane LeJeune and wife, Alecia, of Mandeville; one brother, Gene Lafosse and wife Sally, of Iowa; one sister, Pat Ryder and husband, Jimmy of Lake Charles; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley is preceded in death by his parents, A.J. Lafosse and Anna Bertrand; his daughter, Theresa Gayle Lafosse; his sister, Hazel McClelland; and his previous wife, Sandra Lafosse.
