It is with heavy hearts that the family of Shirley Virginia Fontenot, 78, announce her passing on January 2, 2015. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Indian Village Baptist Church. Brother E.J. McCann and Brother Kevin Willis will officiate. Burial will follow in Jesse Johnson Cemetery in the Kingsfarm community under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder on Sunday, January 4, 2015, from 2-10 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday morning at Indian Village Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until time of service.
Virginia was a devoted wife of 63 years as well as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a lifelong resident of Kinder and the Kingsfarm community. She was a master quilter and seamstress. Virginia was also known for her fantastic cooking skills. She was always a caring and giving person to others. Her children were "her life". Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to mourn her loss include her loving husband, Frank Fontenot, of Kinder; two sons, Tony Fontenot and wife, Vickie, and Kerry Fontenot, all of Kinder; two daughters, Rhonda Sherman and husband, Dan, of Wilcox, NE, and Dana Homer, and husband, Jim, of Pineville; one sister, Geraldine Fontenot, of Kinder; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Lessie Johnson; and her grandson, Jessie Marquez.
