Sherry Ann Fournet Holmes

On May 10, 2023, Sherry Ann Leger Fournet Holmes passed away peacefully at age 86 surrounded by the love of her family.

She cared deeply for her family, friends, neighbors, church, and community. She did this, not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She loved creating a welcoming home for all to come and visit, and she enjoyed waiting on them hand and foot.

She was blessed with two wonderful loves in her life. Pete Fournet was her first love and the father of her four children. They married, happily raised their four children, and welcomed multiple grandchildren along the way. Pete and Sherry loved to entertain, and they were known for cooking wonderful feasts for friends and family.

After she lost her beloved Pete, Sherry started the next part of her wonderful life's journey when she married Bruce Holmes.  Bruce and Sherry enjoyed traveling, shopping, and dancing. Bruce and Sherry shared many adventures, including seeing Mount Rushmore, camping trips in the west, white water rafting, and climbing Mayan ruins. Bruce also shared his eleven children and many grandchildren with her, and she loved them all. Sherry would often comment how happy she felt in her home and how much she loved being there. It meant the world that she was able to live there until the last month of her earthly life.

A special thanks goes to Beverly Johnson who cared for Sherry this last year and a half. She has been a gift, not only to Sherry, but to Bruce and the whole extended family. The family is also deeply grateful for Dr. Deepa Ramamurthi. Dr. Rama is an angel who helped Sherry through the last months and days before she gained her heavenly reward. We are forever grateful for her medical expertise as well as her guidance and kindness throughout this time. Finally, we would like to thank The Carpenter House for their knowledge and unwavering compassion during Sherry's last days.

Sherry is survived by her husband Bruce Holmes, her daughter Vicki Fournet Ventura and husband Esteban, her son Joe Fournet and wife Melissa, her sister Rita Leger, her sister Mary Sue Leger Fontenot and husband Donald, and her sister-in-law Kathy Leger. In addition, she has a host of  grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews who love and miss her. She was predeceased by her first husband Pete, her daughters Fay Fournet and Terri Fournet, and her brother Stanley Leger.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. A Private Burial will be held on a future date under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
