Obituary

Kinder-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Ruth Jewel Nevils Savant, 93, at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Rev. Keith Pellerin will officiate. Burial will follow in Indian Village Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder on Monday, November 2, 2015 from 4 to 10 p.m. A Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. followed by the praying of the Holy Rosary. Visitation will continue on Tuesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Ruth was a lifelong resident of Kinder. She was a devoted wife of 55 years to her husband, Clifford, prior to his passing away in 1996. She was also a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church where she was active for many years with the Catholic Daughters. She loved to cook for her family and she made the best pie crust in the country. She also enjoyed sewing and reading. Ruth found great comfort in caring for her mother during her last years. She loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a woman of strong faith and loved by all who knew her. Ruth will be sadly missed by her family, friends, and community.
Those left to cherish Ruth's memory include her son, Dennis Savant, of Kinder; two daughters, Melody Dunn and husband, James, and Rhonda Marcantel and husband, Bill, all of Kinder; one brother, Pierre Nevils, of Jennings; one sister, Ouida Baggett, and husband, Marvin, of Reeves; 7 grandchildren, Angela Boyington and husband, Chris, of Dallas, TX, Andrea LaFleur and husband, Doug, of Lake Charles, Jeremy Marcantel of Petersburg, VA, Patrick Savant of Kinder, Megan Marcantel of Dallas, TX, Wayne Dunn and wife, Donna, and Bill Dunn and wife, Rachelle, all of Lake Charles; and 7 great grandchildren.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Luke and Fannie Nevils; her husband, Clifford Savant; one daughter, Gwendolyn Faye Savant; one grandson, Jeffrey Savant; three brothers, Luke Nevils, Jr, Denver Nevils, and Daniel Nevils; and two sisters, Mary Williams and Jenny Connelly.
