Deridder-Ruth Etta Cummings, 93, passed away peacefully watching Bob Ross at her granddaughter's house who was caring for her. The family will receive visitors at Broadlands Bible Church on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 5-9 p.m. Visitation will resume Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Broadlands Bible Church, 6423 HWY 171, Deridder. Rev. Tim Bergen will officiate. Burial will follow at Whitaker Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

Ruth grew up in Wichita, KS until meeting her husband, Ralph, where they moved to Texas and finally settling in Deridder. They were married fifty-two years until his passing. She had many hobbies and interest like painting, reading and traveling. She had traveled to seven different countries. Ruth was a founding member of the Daylily Club, a member of the Deridder Gardenettes, Broadlands Homemakers Club and started the Deridder Quilt Club. She loved going to bingo with her daughter whom she lived with for many years. She had a love for chocolate, especially a Hershey bar and enjoyed baking, especially pies; she made the best lemon meringue. Ruth was loved by all who knew her. To know her was to know love. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her love and kindness showed no matter where she was. If you showed up where she was staying, she always offered you something to drink. Ruth had a giving heart and always seen the best in people. She will be truly missed and never ever forgotten.

Those left to cherish Ruth's memory include her daughter, Rhonda Dodds and husband, Jeffery, of Deridder; six grandchildren, Journey Fockler and wife, Crissy, of Burkville, TX, Sara Briscoe and husband, Joey, of Oberlin, Nicolett Stratton of Moss Bluff, Vanissa Cooley and husband, Roger, of Deridder, Darla Hill of Port Barre and Autumn Ray of Blanchard; nineteen great grandkids, Andrew, Hope, Tori, Lonnie, Layne, Mason, Noah, Ella, Rylee, Morgan, Alexis, Reva, Camryn C., Faith, Blake, Bryce, Kase, Camryn R. and Cadynce; one great-great grandchild, Angelina, nieces, Pat, Linda and Brenda, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Thelma and Eli Deskins; husband, Ralph Dale Cummings; Daughter, Renee Dalene Cummings; and two sisters, Dortha Adams and Dolly Star.
