Oberlin-Funeral service for Ruth Carrier, 82, will be held at 10 a.m. on November 6, 2013 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Rev. Jacob S. Conner will officiate. Burial will follow in Oberlin Cemetery Mausoleum under the direction of Allen Parish Funeral Home-Oberlin Chapel.
The family will receive visitors Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Allen Parish Funeral Home, 119 S. 7th Street, Oberlin from 4-10 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 5 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Ruth was a lifelong resident of Oberlin and member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. She was active in the Ladies Altar Society, and was also a retired religion teacher as well as director of religious education. She was a devoted wife of 48 years and a loving mom and grandmother. She and her husband, Arrel, owned and operated Carrier's Grocery Store for many years. Ruth enjoyed entertaining, especially when she hosted her "Coffee Ladies" group. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her five daughters-Trudy Lefort and husband, Gene of Augusta, GA, JoAnn Chapman and husband, Steve of Oberlin, Ginger Pinkard, Carol Davis and husband, Ray, and Cindy Limes and husband, Jerry, all of Cypress, TX; one brother, Larry Hebert of Oberlin; one sister, Wilda Manuel of Oberlin; 12 grandchildren; and, 18 great grandchildren.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Arrel Carrier; parents, Esther and Ray Hebert; three brothers, Louis, Marcus and Jack Hebert; and one sister, Alma Faye Carrier.
