Kinder-Graveside service for Mrs. Ruby Laughlin Saunders, age 95, will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 11am at Cherry Grove Cemetery. Rev. Ron Butler will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 4-7pm in Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder on Friday evening, September 23, 2011.
Ruby graduated from Fairview High School and was a graduate of Shreveport Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at Baytown Hospital in Baytown, TX as a Registered Nurse and was always extremely proud of her chosen profession. While nursing in Baytown, Ruby met her husband, John ("Jack"), with whom she had one son, John, the "light of her life". She loved meeting new people, fishing, playing slots, and bridge; --in fact at one time she was a member of seven bridge clubs. Church and spirituality were an important part of her life; she was a member of Lakeway Church where she was an active parishioner . She enjoyed being with her family. She will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her son, John M .Saunders and Jan Thompson of Austin, TX; two sisters, Willadell Trahan of Mittie and Wildred Reeves of Moss Bluff; two honorary grandchildren, Amy Thompson and Scott Thompson and wife, Kimberly; and two honorary great grandchildren, Melina and Lindsay; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, Elzia and Mary Laughlin; six brothers, Wilmer, Willett, Willard, Wilbern "Boots", William "Tarrel", and Winford "Tuck" Laughlin; and her husband of many years, John W. Saunders.
