Roy was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a faithful and devoted husband to his wife Myra LaFargue Benoit for 57 years. Roy was a faithful member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Kinder where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and attended church regularly. He was a hard worker and worked for Centurytel Telephone Company for 38 years to provide for his family. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting with his grandsons, brother and nephews, and fishing and gardening with his grandchildren. Roy loved to travel with his wife and see the country and together they were able to visit 49 states. He loved and adored his family and enjoyed spending time with them, he cherished every memory he made with them. Roy was an amazing cook and enjoyed cooking for his family, but especially loved frying fish for his mother.  He was a man of his word, if Roy told you he was going to do something, that was final, and he expected the same in return. Roy was a loving and caring person and will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish Roy's memory include his mother, Agnes Young; his wife, Myra LaFargue Benoit; three daughters, Erica Barnett and husband Stevie, Amy Brooks and husband Richy, and Trish LaCour and husband Ben; seven grandchildren, Kristian, Brennan Barnett and wife Cassidy, John Andrew, Jess, Madison, Maggie, and Jackson; one great grandson, Dexter, and one on the way; three brothers, Roger Benoit and wife Ann, Andy Benoit and wife Peggy, and Robbie Benoit; four sisters, Cynthia Jones and husband Rodney, Mary Voizin and husband Steve, Kathy Sullivan, and Tammy Wilber and husband Shane; one brother-in-law, Kenneth LaFargue; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
