Elton -Funeral Services for Roussella Bertrand Doise, 68, will be held at 10:00 AM
on Saturday, May 14, 2011, in St. Paul's Catholic Church. Father Marshal Boulette will officiate. Visitation will begin in Ardoin's Funeral Home of Elton on Friday, May 13, 4 - 9 PM with a rosary at 7:30 PM. Roussella was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was devoted to her husband, Mike, for 49 years. She
took great pride in fulfilling her roles of mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her 12 grandchildren. Roussella was
a 1960 graduate of Basile High School. She kept close ties with her classmates and looked forward to her "Ya Ya" outings. Many times she was teased for being 1/2 Elton Indian and 1/2 Basile Bearcat. She also enjoyed
socilaizing with her "Red Hat" friends. Roussella was very devoted to the Adoration Chapel and held great respect and devotion to multiple daily rosaries. She had a calming
effect on those who came in contact with her. She had a gift of making others feel special; yet, humble when someone called her special.
While battling breast cancer for 4 years, her faith only grew stronger.
Her brave fight with cancer taught her family and friends to live with
a zest for life and how to die with grace. Survivors include her husband, Michael Doise; three sons,Todd Doise (Laurie) of Elton, Luke Doise (Cindy) of Elton, Jude Doise(Lori) of Welsh; two daughters, Kayla Little of Lake Charles and Alacia Manuel (Garr of Iota;12 grandchildren; two sisters, Debbie Bruchhaus of Elton, Delores Richard of Baton Rouge; two brothers, Keith Bertrand of Lafayette and Kurt Bertrand of Basile.
Roussella is preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Ethel
Bertrand and honorary parents, Gus and Edmae Doise.
A special thank you to Dr. Brian Barnett. His role went beyond
the role of doctor. His love and compassion displayed during
Roussella's illness will never be forgotten by the Doise family.
Special recognition also goes out to Dr. Robert Elliot and the
Elliot and Elliot Breast Cancer Staff. Roussella referred to the
doctors and staff as her second family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Elliot and Elliot Breast Cancer Center located in Baton Rouge, LA. An additional thank you goes out Dr. Deland and staff of Lafayette Oncologics. This special group of people made Roussella feel very comfortable. She enjoyed their visits and uplifting attitude.
Roussella's life will not be measured by the number of breaths
she took, but will be rememberd by the moments spent with
her that took our breath away.
