Elton- Funeral service for Ronald Ray "Nie" Ortego, 59, of Elton, will be Monday, November 13, 2006 at 11 a.m.in St. Paul Catholic Church of Elton. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton. Father Micheal Boulet will officiate. Visitation will be at Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m with a Cursillo rosary at 7p.m. done by the Lake Charles chapter and Monday from 8 a.m until time of service.
Mr. Ortego was a resident of Elton. He died on his birthday, Saturday, November 11, at 12 noon in Savoy Medical Center after fighting a long illness.
Mr. Ortego was retired from the LA Department of Transportation after 33 years. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Catholic Church of Elton. He attended the 1988 Cursillo.
He is survived by his father, Raymond Ortego; one sister, Mrs. Jerry "Brenda" Duhon of Elton; four brothers, Donnie Ortego of Kinder, Jerry Ortego of Oberlin, Ricky Ortego and Mark Ortego of Elton and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Joyce B.Ortego, and his brother, Kent Ortego.
