Celebration of Life services honoring Ronald (Ron) D. Johnson, will be held at 10 o’clock a.m. on Saturday Morning, October 10, 2026, at Mt Hope Baptist Church in Oakdale, Louisiana. Bro. Brian Johnson will officiate. A Remembrance Service will be announced at a later date to be held at Fairplay Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

     Ron, a beloved son, husband, and father was born on Friday, December 9, 1949, to the union of Everette Leo Johnson and Ora Leona Hulsey-Johnson in Malvern, Arkansas. Ron grew up in Glenrose, Arkansas. After receiving his High School Diploma – 1967, Ron went on to receive two university degrees: Education Degree from Henderson State University - 1971, and Physical Therapy Degree from University of Central Arkansas - 1984.

     Ron enjoyed 12 years enhancing the minds of young pupils in Arkansas during his time as a teacher. Once he completed his degree in Physical Therapy, Ron went on to become the Director of Physical Therapy at the Levi Arthritis Hospital, Hot Springs, AR until his departure in 1999. Once he settled into life in Oakdale, LA, Ron took a position with a local physical therapy office, however, his headquarters were located in Oberlin, thus allowing him to travel to his patients, wherever they may have been located. He thoroughly enjoyed his work helping those in need of his assistance return to life as they knew it, before retiring as a Physical Therapist.

     Ron was passionate in his work for the Lord. He was a faithful member, and worker for The Kingdom during his membership at Glenrose Missionary Baptist Church of Arkansas. He later went on to lead the Men’s Sunday Evening Bible Class at Mt Hope Baptist Church, Oakdale, LA. Ron was also a faithful member of Gideons International, serving in the local Oakdale Gideon Camp, as well as holding the position of Louisiana State Chaplain.

     Ron is survived by his wife, Edna Frances Cockrell-Johnson; one daughter, Adrianne Johnson. Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Everette and Ora Johnson; and brother, Larry Dean Johnson.

     Ms. Edna Johnson would like to extend a personal Thank You to the Director and Staff of Allen Oaks Nursing Home and Brighton Bridge Hospice for all the kindness and care that has been shown to them during this difficult transition the family is going through.
