Elton-Funeral service for Roger F. LaFleur, 76, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at St. Paul Catholic Church of Elton. Rev. Marshall Boulet will officiate. Burial will follow in Sonnier Cemetery of Soileau under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 3-9 pm with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Roger was a native of Elton and graduate of Elton High School. He served our country in the United States Air Force, having served during the Vietnam and Korean wars. He retired from the Air Force after 23 years of service. He then served the town of Elton for two terms as Police Chief. During that time, he also trained drug dogs for fellow law enforcement agencies. He was an avid hunter and Cajun musician with his band, Roger's Raiders. He was a loving brother, dad and grandfather.
Survivors include his sons, Eric LaFleur of Brockwell, AR and Norris LaFleur of San Antonio,TX; three daughters, Louise Jurica and husband, Robert of Canyon Lake, TX, Anita Compton and Cindy Lemieux of Alexandria; one sister, Lydia Briscoe of Elton; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Louisa LaFleur; his wife, Gloria "Lurcy" LaFleur; his son, Roger LaFleur, Jr.; and numerous brothers and sisters.
