Oberlin-Funeral service for Roderick William Whitfield. 68. will be held on
Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. John Baptist Church located on Lauderdale
Road. Pastor Andrew Hayes, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at St. John
Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at St. John Baptist Church of Oberlin
on Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Roderick was born on November 2, 1954 in Monroe, La to the late Claude and
Augustine Whitfield. In 1985, he began working as a Senior Officer Specialist at the
Federal Bureau of Prisons. He met and married the love of his life, Sheena Whitfield,
in 1993. Roderick was a faithful, loyal, and hardworking father. He put his family
first always. Roderick was passionate about education, and he served as an example
for his family. He graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 1973. He then went
on to receive a degree from University of Louisiana Monroe with a B.A. General
Studies/Phys. Science. After retirement, he furthered his education caring degrees

Engineering,
Mechanical
Engineering,
Geology,
Project
Management/Business Administration, Paralegal, and Drafting and Sketching. He
departed this life on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, in the early morning, at his
residence in Oberlin. His presence will forever be with those whom he loved.

Those left to cherish Rodrick's memory, include his wife, Sheena Whitfield;
three sons, Broderick "Ricky" Whitfield, and wife, Amanda,
Joseph Whitfield, and Cedric Whitfield, and wife, Andrashia; two daughters, Erica
Whitfield, and has been Carvis and Shayne, Dela, Lavan, and husband Jeremy; two
brothers, Willie Wright, and Jimmy drummer; and 10 grandchildren.
Roderick is preceded in death by his parents,
Claude and Augustine
(Jones} Whitfield; one son, Roderick "Chris" Whitfield; one daughter, Monica
Whitfield; and one sister, Irma Whitfield.
