Oakdale -Funeral Service for Henry Rocky Brady, 70, will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church of Oakdale with Dr. Jeremy Lynn Blocker officiating.   Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery of Glenmora under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Trinity Baptist Church on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Rocky was the youngest of eight children born to Edgar H. and Edna Hillman Brady.  He was born in Oakdale, Louisiana on Monday, December 11, 1950 and he passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at his residence in Glenmora with family by his side.  Rocky served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  After his service, he began working as a heavy equipment operator.  Except for the time he spent as a driver for the Continental Trailways Bus System, he continued working in construction and was a skilled operator who was sought out for his expertise.  Like his dad, he loved horses and rode, trained, sold and traded many of them during his lifetime. He could also be seen at arenas doing a little team penning.  He was trained and became a farrier and cared for and shod horses locally.  Rocky was also at home on a motorcycle and owned several of them.  He particularly enjoyed his motorcycle trips with his brother, Randy.  Rocky also liked hunting with his son, Michael, and earned the title of "World's Greatest Hog Hunter" because of his one tiny-small-hog kill.

Rocky is survived by his two sons, Michael Paul Brady and wife, Bonnie of Alexandria and Kevin Dale Brady of Forest Hill; and, a grandson he adored and of whom he was so proud, Todd Aiden Brady.  Rocky was affectionately known as "Pop Rock" to Todd.  He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Brady Ross of Boyce; and a host of nieces and nephews.  He was supported and lovingly cared for during his year-long battle with cancer by a very special niece, Sherry NesSmith Blocker.  Rocky also leaves behind two very dear friends, Jerry Eaves of Oakdale and Kevin "Kevo" Norman of Gardner.

Rocky is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Edna Brady; three brothers, Edward F. Brady, Gerald W. Brady and Rand L. Brady; three sisters, Shirley Brady NesSmith, Muriel Lynn Brady Gorum and Jeannette Brady Nunnink; and the mother of his children, Linda Walters Brady.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be Michael Brady, Kevin Brady, Todd Brady, Jerry Eaves, Mike Eaves, Kevin Norman and James Monroe.  Honorary pallbearers will be Mason Monroe, Bill Billings and Ken Tibbett.
