Richard was born at Kinder Hospital on December 31, 1953 to parents Bob and Betty Guse, along with his twin brother, Robert.  Five years later, his baby sister Claudia was born. Being raised in an Air Force family, Richard moved around throughout his childhood and teenage years. He lived in Newfoundland, Georgia, and in Maine, where he competed on his high school's cross country ski team. During his senior year, his family moved back to Kinder where he graduated high school in 1972. In 1974 his first daughter, Natalie, was born. In 1978 he married the love of his life, Shealane, and later had two more daughters, Stephanie and Jessica. Richard never shied away from hard work in order to provide for his family, and he had a few occupations over his lifetime. He was a truck driver in his younger years, then learned the trade of air conditioner repair and began work in that field.  He finally transitioned into commercial refrigeration, which he enjoyed and did for the remainder of his years. Richard was known to be a Mr. Fix It, there was nothing he could not repair. In younger adulthood, he had a love for coon hunting. Many nights he could be found rolling through the woods with his bluetick coon hounds.  He liked to fish, especially on Toledo Bend. He loved listening to old country music and classic rock. In 2001, Richard bought a Harley Davidson. It was then that motorcycle riding became his passion. Richard then joined the P.O.B. motorcycle club, where he later served as Head Road Captain for over 10 years. Richard had a generous heart. He never hesitated to offer his time, services, or money to someone in need. He was a proud, loving, husband, father, and Paw Paw, who absolutely adored his grandkids. He found so much joy in telling them stories and trying to teach them all that he knew. Richard passed away peacefully at home on November 29, 2022. "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."
