Kinder-Memorial service for Richard "Suitcase", 59, will be held Wednesday,
August 24, 2011 from 2-5pm in Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder. Rev. Drew
Fontenot will officiate.
Richard H. Burnett was united with our Lord Jesus Christ on August
22, 2011, he passed away in Kinder in his home. He was born in DeQuincy, La.
on Jan. 26, 1952 and has been a resident of Oberlin and Kinder the rest of his
life. Mr. Burnett was employed for Dr. Pepper for 5 years, later he worked
construction, he then worked on tugboats as a licensed tankerman where he
was able to travel all over the United States from state to state, and at the
present time he was working as a landscape/yardsman. He enjoyed cutting grass
and making a flower bed. He loved growing a garden, watching it grow and
admiring the work and love he put into growing his garden. He also loved fishing
and enjoyed laughing at jokes with his family and his friends. He had a good
heart and especially a good sense of humor. He will be missed and loved by those who
knew him. May God hold him in his hands and protect him from all evil.
Mr. Burnett leaves behind his wife Geraldine Burnett of 6 years; one daughter,
Natalie Jenkins and husband Paul Jenkins who all reside in Kinder; seven stepsons,
Timothy Ware and wife Petra of Eunice, Kevin Ware, Ricky Ware, and Glen Ware
and wife Stephanie of Kinder, Will Phenice and wife Vera of Mississippi, Paul
LeBlanc and wife Nikia of Eunice, and Brandon LeBlanc and wife Wanda of
Mississippi; 24 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren and also his pride and joy,
Lucie his dog he loved so much.
He is proceeded in death by his father, Harold V. Burnett of Moss Bluff;
his mother, Delphine J. Vercher of LeBlanc; his brother, Norman Burnett of
LeBlanc; his sister Maryann Thigpen of Moss Bluff.
