Obituary

Lake Charles-Homegoing Services for Reverend Grover Curtis Heard, 75, will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Apostolic Temple in Lake Charles. Reverend Rick Treece, Reverend Larry Talent, Reverend Raymond Sisk and Reverend T.L. Smith will officiate. A graveside service will be held Friday, August 9, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Merryville Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Apostolic Temple from 3 p.m. until time of service on Thursday, August 8, 2019.

Grover was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, minister and a friend to all.  He was a devoted husband to his wife, Anna, for 57 years. Grover was an avid collector of antique cars. He was an inventor with two inventions; one being a top drive valve that he designed for the oil industry and the other being a recognized adapter for oil field equipment. Grover had numerous accomplishments in the oil industry. He graduated from Ashford University with summa cum laude in business administration. He was currently in the process of completing a bachelor's degree in Christian counseling and ministry at Liberty University. Grover was an ordained minister with the United Pentecostal Church for 25 years, as well as, a member of Lafayette and Houston Petroleum Club.

He was an avid traveler and was an international co-host for trips to the Holy Land. Some of those trips included, but were not limited to; Germany, Greece, Israel and Austria. He started Calvary Tabernacle in Houston in 1991, along with, Christian Life Center in China, TX. He was the pastor and assistant pastor of numerous churches in the Texas district, including his most recent church, The Clarksville United Pentecostal Church, in Clarksville, TX. Grover was greatly used in the healing ministry and that was where his heart really was. He made a great impact on the lives of many people, not just locally, but all over Texas as well. He never met a stranger and always loved to keep in contact with any friends he made.

He was a man of great generosity and many times did without to help his ministry, as well as, anyone in need. Anytime he set a goal and accomplished it, he would set another goal to achieve. Grover was a loving, caring and compassionate man who devoted his entire life to the ministry of Jesus Christ and the United Pentecostal Church. Grover will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish Grover's memory include his wife, Anna Heard of Iowa; three daughters, Catherine Anne Marquez of Houston, TX, Christie Lynne Burdick and husband, William, of Glen Rose, TX, Melanie Dawn Duvall and husband, Clay, of Iowa; five brothers, Eugene Ingalls and wife, Karen, of Wimberley, TX, Marlin Heard and wife, Kay, of Cody, WY, Ferren Heard and wife, Telisa, of Lake Charles, Chester Heard and wife, Stella, of Oklahoma City, OK, and Norman Heard and wife, Tanya, of Lake Charles; one sister, Pearl Davis and husband, Gilbert, of Gillis; four grandchildren, Anthony, Elizabeth, and Allison Marquez and Aaron Burdick; 9 great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Grover is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Anna Heard; and one brother, Allen Eli Heard.
