Kinder-Funeral service for Rebecca Susan Orr Roberts, 68, will be held Monday, July 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Gus Rodrigue will officiate the service.
The family will receive visitors Sunday, July 14, 2013 from 5-9 p.m. at Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder. Visitation will continue on Monday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Rebecca was a native of New Orleans. She retired after working in sales at Kmart for 15 years. She had been a resident of Kinder for the past 15 years where she was nanny for the children of Mike and Mary Holmes. She loved Mikey, Molly and Maddie as her own and will be greatly missed by all of them. She was also a loving mother and grandmother who dearly loved spending time with her friends and family.
Survivors include two sons-John Thomas Melancon of Moss Bluff and James Michael Melancon of Shreveport; two daughters-Emily Marie Melancon of Kinder and Susan Rebecca Young of Lake Charles; one brother-Joseph Hubert Orr of Lake Charles; two sisters-Jane Rosteet and Mary Ellen Guilbeaux, both of Sulphur; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
Rebecca is preceded in death by her husband-Walter Ray Roberts; her parents-John and Doris Orr; one brother-John Thomas Orr, III; and one sister-Nancy Orr Trick.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Rosewood Nursing Center and Harbor House Hospice for their love and care of their mother.
