Elton-Funeral service for Raymond Ortego, age 92, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Jose Vattakunnel will officiate. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton from 5 p.m. until Friday, November 25, 2016 with the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Raymond was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great-grandfather. He loved birds and woodworking. Raymond was a great craftsman and loved gardening. He enjoyed listening to French music. Raymond was a lifelong resident of Elton and St. Paul Catholic Church. He served our country in the U.S. Army for 2 years. Raymond owned his own car dealership in Kinder where he retired from. He was a man of strong faith. Raymond was a loving grandpa to all of the daycare kids. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish Raymond's memory include his wife, Karen Ortego of Elton; four sons, Donnie Ortego and wife, Jane, of Kinder, Jerry Ortego of Oberlin, Rickey Ortego of Elton, Mark Ortego and wife, Chantel, of Elton; one daughter, Brenda Duhon and husband, Jerry, of Elton; and he is survived by four brothers, four sisters, ten grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and one great great- grandchild.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, Antney and Edna Ortego; two sons, Kent Ortego, Ronald Ortego; One brother, Cranford Ortego; and one sister Ruby Lambright.
