Phillip L. "Oberlin-Funeral services for Phillip L. "Goose" Veazey, 80, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin. Rev. Michael Westergard will officiate. Burial will follow at Oaklin Springs Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Phillip was a devoted husband to his wife, Lois, for fifty-eight years, as well as a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. He was a lifelong resident of Oberlin and was known by many as "Goose". Phillip proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked hard to provide for his family as a heavy equipment operator. Phillip and his family took apart the Catholic church and used the lumber to build their home. He cherished his kids and grandkids and loved his nieces and nephews, especially, Artis Veazey. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, collecting coins and camping. Phillip played "Santa" for many years; it was his passion to brighten the lives of people during the Christmas season. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish Phillip's memory include his wife, Lois Veazey of Oberlin; son, Joey Veazey of Oberlin; daughter, Paula Bergeaux and husband, Ricky, of Basile; brother, George L. Veazey and wife, Sue, of Guy; nine grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Phillip is preceded in death by his parents, EJ and Ethel Veazey; son, Phillip Earl Veazey; daughter, Rhonda Veazey Galligan; brother, Artis Gene Veazey, Sr.; and sister, Beverly Gayle Veazey Hobbs.
