Oberlin-Funeral service for Phillip J. "Chawk" Courville, age 50, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Rev. Jacob Conner will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul cemetery under the direction of Allen Parish Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors at Allen Parish Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 with the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Phillip was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He loved to BBQ, and he enjoyed watching football, hunting, and fishing. Phillip loved spending time with his family, especially his cousins. He cherished his only grandson Jason. Phillip worked hard to take care of his family. He worked off shore for many years and also worked as an equipment operator on a farm. Phillip was a good friend to all and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish Phillip's memory include his wife, Donna Courville, of Oberlin; two daughters, Kaliegh Courville, of Oberlin, and Tabitha Courville, of Oberlin,; one brother, Paul Courville and wife, Cathy, of Elton; five sisters, Lucinda Schexneider and husband Dudley, of Oberlin, Genifier Fontenot and husband Curley, of Oberlin, Helen Manuel and husband Benny, of Kinder, Melissa Bartell and husband Troy, of Oberlin, and Brenda Horner and husband, Jimmy, of Iowa,; and one grandchild.
Phillip is preceded in death by his parents, Clearence and Elda Courville
