Kinder-Funeral service will be held for Peggy Pitre, 79, at 10am on Monday, February 25, 2013 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Father Carlos Garcia will officiate the services and burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral
Home of Kinder.
The family will receive visitors beginning Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 4-9pm with a vigil service at 6pm followed by a rosary. Visitation will continue Monday, February 25, 2013 at 8am until time of service.
Peggy was a member of the St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. She was a member of the Adult Choir and a charter member of Court St. Philip Neri #1918 Catholic Daughters of the America and the Courts first Financial Secretary. She was employed by the Town of Kinder as a Town Clerk from 1953 to 1972. She also worked in banking from 1975 for Bank of Southwest La through its sale to American Security Bank, and later was purchased by Cameron State Bank from which she retired in June of 2002.She was a 2nd Mother to all of her nieces and nephews and loved taking them fishing at the canal.
Survivors include her three sisters, Jan Smith Augustine and husband Orville, Denny Sue Smith Fossett and husband Donald, Dickie Smith Savant and husband Gerald; and of course her pride and joy was her many nieces and nephews. She was known as Aunt Peggy by the older ones and lovingly as "Peg" to the younger ones. Time spent with family was more than quality time, it was Blessed time.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer D & Mildred Smith; and infant son, Kirk Patrick Pitre.
