Elton-Funeral service for Mrs. Pearl B. Shuff, 90, will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church on January 11, 2014 at 10 a.m. Rev. Marshall Boulet will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton.
The family will receive visitors Friday, January 10, 2014 from 3-9 p.m. at Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Pearl was a lifelong resident of Elton. She was a devoted wife of 67 years, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking and working with flowers. She also loved her pets, which included parakeets, peacocks, dogs, geese and other animals. She read her bible and other religious materials on a regular basis. She also had a regular coffee drinking group at her house every morning. Pearl was a lovely lady who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include one son, Donald Jay Shuff of Elton; 4 daughters, Loris Walker of Jacksonville, FL and Marie Anna Jacquet of Biloxi, MS, Judith Ann Steckler of Biloxi, MS, and Doris Martin of Elton; one stepson, Larry David of Elton; two stepdaughters, Jane Marie Chavira and Jeanette Marie Gonzalez, both of Elton; one brother, Lawrence Briscoe of Westlake; two sisters, Margie Chance of Lake Charles and Bernadine Williamson of Topsy; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
Pearl is preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Shuff; one granddaughter, Annette Marie David; two brothers; and four sisters.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Kinder Retirement Center, Brighton Bridge Hospice and Savoy Medical Center for the outstanding care given to their mother.
