Obituary

Oberlin-Funeral service for Mr. Paul Lafleur, 97, will be held at 12 noon Thursday, October 25, 2018 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Oberlin. Rev. Jacob Conner will officiate. The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin on Wednesday from 4-9 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7 pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Thursday followed with burial in Reed Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.

Mr. Paul was born in Elton, but lived most of his life in Oberlin. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Lillian, for 50 years until her passing in June of 1996. Paul enjoyed spending time with his family and working outside in his fields and garden. He was a man of strong faith and lifelong member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. He was also a lifelong member of the American Legion.

Those left to cherish Mr. Paul's memory include his two sons, Clifford Lafleur and wife, Onalee of Oberlin and Clayton Lafleur and wife, Saundra, of Westlake; sister Josephine of Mamou. Grandchildren Kyle Lafleur, Donna Butler, Greg Lafleur, Karen Ashworth, David Lafleur, Julie Thompson, and Sabrina Traweek; thirteen great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.

Mr. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, and six sisters.
